Position Overview: The Market Manager, Client Performance will partner with operations and revenue cycle management (RCM) leadership for a designated market to develop and execute projects that improve and sustain RCM performance. This role will interface with executive leadership spanning USPI’s surgical hospital (SH) and ambulatory surgery center (ASC) portfolio and be responsible for owning RCM performance for their designated market, proactively assessing, and communicating performance against established target metrics and implementing tangible action plans  to drive timely performance improvement. This role is critical to the financial success of each designated USPI-managed SH facility; candidates will be expected to possess deep experience in RCM, executive-level communication and relationship management skills and a proven track record of independently developing and executing successful performance improvement initiatives. This role will require you to work on multiple projects at a time and be agile in pivoting to new projects based on the directives of the Director, Surgical Hospital Service Delivery and the VP, Client Performance and Chief Revenue Cycle Officer.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with service delivery managers and market and facility leadership to own RCM performance and drive performance to established performance targets.
  • Serves as primary liaison between market facilities, service delivery team, coding and billing operators and third-party vendors to drive proactive performance improvement action plans to completion.
  • Performs data-driven root cause analysis to identify performance improvement opportunities and implement actions to realize performance improvement results
  •  Owns and facilitates recurring RCM performance forums to drive cash acceleration, reduce aging AR, decrease bad debt and improve overall performance relative to established key performance targets.
  • Collaborates with coding and central billing office (CBO) leadership to identify and implement standardization and process improvement opportunities including, but not limited to, DNFB, temp billing, denials management, contractual adjustments, payor follow up, payment variance and cash posting.
  • Provides market and RCM leadership with recurring performance dashboards, reports, action plan updates, forecasting and executive-level summaries to aid with monthly, quarterly, and fiscal year EBITDA projections relative to established budgets.

Required Experience:

Requirements:

  • Must possess a comprehensive understanding of RCM principles, processes and performance drivers spanning front, middle and back-end functions and a minimum of five (5) years of RCM leadership experience.
  • Experience developing and implementing successful data-driven action plans spanning multiple facilities resulting in measurable RCM and financial performance improvement.
  • Deep experience performing data-driven root cause analysis for complex RCM performance issues, synthesizing findings, and presenting results to varying audiences to influence behaviors and drive improved RCM and financial performance improvement.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, consultative, and relationship management skills used to develop partnerships with executive leaders, key stakeholders, and decision makers.

  • Project Management, including development of project plans, regular updates, deliverable accountability, and issue/risk tracking and reporting.
  • Excellent written and oral communication
  • Deep experience leading teams in an RCM performance improvement leadership capacity with proven, quantifiable results
  • Demonstrated experience developing teams and processes to achieve top-level performance for respective RCM functions and performance objectives.
  • Demonstrated experience managing the complexities and nuances of matrix environments to drive alignment, accountability, and performance objectives.
