The Senior Analyst of Operations Finance will work directly with the Manager, Operations Finance and be responsible for critical reporting and analytical insights for all surgical operations. This position will play a key role in creating weekly and monthly reporting, working on special projects to improve financial performance across the USPI portfolio, and conduct root cause analysis of underperformance. The ultimate goal of this role is influence financial performance, and work with multiple stakeholders across the organization to drive performance. This role will be required to work on multiple projects at once, and be agile in pivoting to new projects based on the Vice President of Operations Finance directive.

This role will require someone to be entrepreneurial, and develop creative solutions to complex problems.

Job Responsibilities and Major Duties:

  1. Weekly Volume, Efficiency and Mix Reporting
    1. Weekly volume reporting
      • Work with internal stakeholders on multiple projects, including but not limited to RCM, Finance, Accounting, and Cost Control.
      • Create reports with the BI team to drive financial performance.
      • Work with the field to ensure KPIs are being met, coordinating with field leadership for approval and accuracy.
      • Provide the CFO and Operations leaders a weekly summary of different initiatives and progress made.
    2. Weekly efficiency metrics
      • Review weekly reporting noting trends and investigating outliers and areas of concern
      • Provide Market President leadership a weekly report of facilities that are consistently falling below KPI targets.
      • Conduct root cause analysis of why some facilities are not meeting metrics; create actionable data to help fix the core issues.
    3. Weekly case mix reporting
      • Provide weekly insight on special projects, and outline which facilities need improvement.
      • Create new reports to help drive insight prior to month close (this role will be required to create mid-month reporting for senior leadership).

  1. Monthly Reporting
    1. Participate in facility MORs and provide insights back to Vice President of Operations Finance as is relates to what’s going well and not so well at the facilities. Specifically, will monitor how facilities are doing on newer initiatives.
    2. Provide timely month end reports and analyze data for trends and insights.
    3. Update organizational mapping each month as facility leadership changes occur and new facilities come into the portfolio, along with tracking field leadership portfolio size.
    4. Work with BI data team on reporting requirements and data validation.

  1. Ad-Hoc Requests
    1. Financial impact analysis related to “what if” scenarios.
    2. Forecast modeling related to proposed savings initiatives.
    3. Aggregate data from different sources, and conduct analyses to senior leadership.
    4. Assist in deep dive financial analyses for business insights.
    5. Other ad-hoc requests as needed.


Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 years related finance/FP&A experience including reporting and business analysis.
  • Prior experience with project management, and working with internal stakeholders to drive new initiatives.
  • Demonstrated expert-level experience in Excel, PowerPoint and other MS Office products.
  • Strong financial data analysis, data architecture skills and data modeling skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and project management skills.
  • Ability to communicate with senior level operators and C-suite.
  • Experience with business intelligence a plus.
  • Knowledge of health care industry preferred.
  • Bachelors degree preferred or equivalent work experience
