Responsibilities

At SCOPES Endoscopy Center, the Pre-Op/Post-Op RN provides direct patient care in the Pre-op and Post-operative areas. Performs all nursing duties within the department interacting professionally with physicians, anesthesia staff, patients, families, and other team members. This position requires strong organizational skills and a high degree of accuracy. May have additional responsibilities as designated by the Clinical Nurse Manager, Clinical Director and/or Administrator, which include, but are not limited to, serving on committees, participating in quality improvement audits, and projects.  Candidate must be willing to learn to circulate the GI Procedure Room.


Required Skills:

The following description of the job responsibilities and performance expectations are intended to reflect the major responsibilities of the job, but is not intended to describe the minor duties or other responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.

Some of these may include, but are not limited to: making pre-op and post-op calls, starting IV’s, appropriate drug administration and knowledge, knowledge of basic arrhythmia’s and treatment of these, have the ability to communicate with a wide variety of patients, knowledgeable about recovering all specialties provided at the surgery center.

To perform this job successfully, an individual shall be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and /or ability required. ACLS certification is required for all full-time and part-time RNs.

Demonstrates ability to work as a team member and to communicate directly and professionally. Shall be flexible, reliable, productive, patient-oriented, and self-motivated. Maintains professional conduct and appearance.


Required Experience:

Experience/or Education: Associate or Bachelors Degree in Nursing. Shall have a minimum of two years related experience and /or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Shall have demonstrated computer skills.
