Baylor Scott & White Surgical Hospital Fort Worth is seeking a Registered NurseOperating Room Manager to join our team!! 

Registered Nurse Operating Room Manager at Baylor Scott & White Surgical Hospital Fort Worth:

  • Under the direct supervision of the Perioperative Services Director and/or the Chief Nursing Officer, the Operating Room Manager is responsible for appropriate staff assignments for Baylor Scott & White Surgical Hospital at Fort Worth and Baylor Scott & White Surgical Hospital.
  • The Manager will be involved in timely evaluations, for documentation of employee problems, for disciplinary actions.
  • The Manager will be involved in the hiring and termination processes.
  • The Manager is to assure patient-flow through the Operating Room phase is accomplished in an organized and efficient manner with emphasis on high quality patient care.
  • The Manager will be responsible for Process Improvements goals for this department.Other duties as assigned by the Director of Perioperative Services or the CNO.
  • Above all this Manager must be adept at CUSTOMER SERVICE, making sure that all our customers; patients, family members, physicians, and co-workers are treated with compassion and respect.

Required Skills:

Education

·Graduate of accredited school of nursing, BSN required

·Master’s Degree in Nursing preferred

Licensure/Certification

·Current Texas Nursing License

·BLS required

·CNOR required

Required Experience:

Specific Job Experience

·Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a hospital setting with 1 year of supervisory management experience.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

·Dissemination of information from leadership to the OR staff and from the OR staff to management.

·Responsible for delegation and oversight of operational activities, including daily staffing assignments, training of staff, and on-call schedules related to the care of the patient the operating room setting.

·Acts as a primary resource and provides guidance to licensed and non-licensed personnel.

·Ensure that physician preference cards are appropriately maintained and accurate.

·Collaborates with Preoperative, Postoperative, Material Management, Radiology, and Sterile Process departments to ensure adequate resources are available and allocated to meet demand of the surgical schedule.

·Collaborates with the Quality department and infection control RN to ensure the department is adhering to regulatory mandates and evidence-base practice standards.

·Acts as a patient advocate in meeting his/her physical and psychological needs.

·Performs patient assessment and reassessment immediately upon admission and on a regular basis in accordance with standards of care with documentation of these assessments as a basis for planning each patient’s care.

·Ensures that all nursing interventions and patients’ responses are communicated to responsible practitioners as indicated and that all components of the nursing process are documented in accordance with standards of practice.

·Takes emergency or afterhours call as assigned.

·Understands stand of care and best practices are being utilized in the department.

·Integrates and coordinates care across settings and among various disciplines.

·Implements physician’s orders effectively and safely in accordance with standards of practice.

·Provides appropriate information to nursing personnel regarding the patients’ status on transfers.

·Documents all records according to established policies and procedures of the organization.

·Assists with reviewing and updating policies and procedure.

·Performing performance evaluations and disciplinary actions consistent to the policies and procedures of the organization.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

·Works independently; requires minimal supervision.

·Communicates and works effectively with all personnel, physicians, associated hospital departments, and outside vendors.

·Understands Infection Control related to Operating Room environment.

·Demonstrates dependability and accountability.

Good organizational habits.

Ability to adapt to change quickly in a fast pace and dynamic environment with strong knowledge baserelative to surgical procedures and management of the surgical patient.

Understands principles of aseptic technique and their implementation.

Ability to provide direct patient care.

Excellent teaching skills.

Uses appropriate nursing judgment in decision-making and delegation of assignments.

Basic knowledge of continuous quality improvement ideology.

Ability to utilize Electronic Heath Care Record for patient documentation and Kronos payroll management system.
