PreOp/PACU/Circulator RN PRN
Responsibilities
USPI Memorial Hermann Bay Area Endoscopy Center is seeking a motivated PRN Endo Pre/Post Op, Circulator RN to join our team. We have 1 OR room and 3 Treatment rooms. We perform outpatient surgical procedures in Gastroenterology. We are looking for a candidate to be available Monday-Friday, schedule subject to changed based on surgical schedule and flow of day. Candidate needs to be available for some early mornings and later evenings.
Position requires weekdays only -- no holidays, weekends, or call. Some later evenings required. Competitive salary and benefits for the right candidate.
Pre-operative Duties
- Assess the status of patients’ health in pre-op and ensure accuracy of identification wristband
- Ensure that operative and informed consents are in order
- Determine the surgeon and procedure being carried out
- Take and record vital statistics of patients to ensure readiness for surgical procedure
- Initiate IVs and ensure that patients are informed about the procedure and attending medical staff
Post-operative Duties
- Assess patients’ condition after a surgery has been performed
- Ensure that all vitals are within normal range
- Log all findings in patients’ files
- Answer patients’ questions and ensure that they are kept comfortable
- Monitor patients for condition changes and report any changes to the doctor
- Initiate patient education programs to ensure that both patients and families are educated on procedures and medications
- Perform intervention duties in cases of post-operative emergencies
OR Circulating Duties
- Assisting with equipment
- Serving as a patient advocate and ensuring patient safety at all times
- Assisting with positioning the patient
- Monitoring the patient's condition throughout the entire surgical process and acting quickly to respond to any changes
- Maintaining the sterile field at all times
- Exhibiting skillful clinical judgment and assessment skills

Required Skills:
- Candidates must have graduated from an accredited school of nursing. BSN preferred.
- Must have a current unrestricted RN license in the state.
- Minimum 2-year experience in a hospital setting or ASC setting
- Current American Heart BLS certification.
