Durango Outpatient Surgery Center is hiring a full time Insurance Verifier to join the team!

Job Summary: The Insurance Verifier is responsible for validating and entering patient information and insurance coverage into the appropriate computer system. Duties may also include communicating with physician offices, insurance carriers, and patient follow-ups.

Job Duties:

  • Contacts all insurance carriers per patient, to insure proper coordination and reimbursement of benefits.
  • Breaks down managed care contract reimbursements and estimates patient(s) financial responsibilities.
  • Works closely with physician offices and patients to provide accurate patient financial responsibilities and to ensure scheduled procedures/admissions have proper pre-authorization.
  • Interacts appropriately and effectively with all patient/others regardless of age or ethnic background.
  • Update patient demographics, insurance carriers/information in the system.
  • Follows all equipment safety guidelines and is personally responsible for knowledgeable use and care for all business equipment.
  • Ability to collect upfront payment or set up recurring payment plans in the practice management software within the standard operating procedures.
  • Work schedule Monday-Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm with the ability to work extended hours at times based on business needs. 

Required Skills:
  • Minimum 2 years of previous experience ASC or Hospital insurance verification experience preferred  
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate with patients over the phone and in person
  • Medical Terminology experience preferred
  • Forty-five (45) wpm typing skills required.
  • Must have the skills necessary to operate the office equipment required to fulfill job duties.
  • Familiar with patient accounting software, especially AdvantX.
  • Knowledge of Internet Explorer, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Outlook.
