About the Opportunity
The pre and post-op technician in the surgery center is a trained technician who assists the Registered Nurse in preparing patients for procedures, and caring for them post-op.
Required Skills:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists the Registered Nurse in preparing the patient for surgery and assists with post-op care.
- Checks pre/ post op area for cleanliness and orderliness.
- Brings the patient to pre-op area and assists with changing if needed.
- Takes vital signs.
- Makes sure all pre-op testing, H&P, and necessary paperwork are on chart prior to surgical procedure.
- Transports patients to and from procedure rooms.
- Maintains supplies and equipment.
- Restocks carts.
- Directs family members.
- Includes family / patient in post-op instructions.
- Coordinates patient transportation.
- Performs other duties as requested or assigned.
- Participates in QAPI, Infection Control and Safety Program.
About the Candidate
- High school graduate required, some college preferred.
- Experience or interest in healthcare industry.
- Knowledge of GI procedures.
