No weekends, No holidays and No call!

This position is 100% on-site

Saint Thomas Surgicare is a fast paced multi-specialty Ambulatory Surgery Center that focuses on providing a quality patient experience in the outpatient setting. We are currently seeking a dynamic motivated self-starter to run our Front Desk. The ability to make a great first faceimpression to start the patient’s surgery experience is imperative.

Job Summary:

Check in surgery patients for same day surgery. Prepare charts for next day surgery patients.

Interface with visitors, patients, family, and physicians on phone and in person. Collect estimated patient liability, as determined by insurance verification clerk.

Job Responsibilities:  

  • Operates telephone system including receiving incoming calls, taking messages, identifynature of business and routing calls to the appropriate person/department.

  • Performs chart preparation for next day surgery patients.

  • Performs check in/admission for daily surgery patientsCopy identification and insurance cards.  Communication with Pre-Op nursing staff for transfer of patient to prepare for surgery.

  • Collect patient responsibility as determined by the Insurance Verifier.

  • Reviews financial obligation with patient and authorized party following USPI’s Surgicares program or any other program established by the company.  

  • Follows all policies and procedures.

  • Complete Digital Expected Payment Log daily.

  • Work in team environment.

  • Present professionally and friendly nature to assure positive patient experience.

  • Verify patient demographic and insurance information for all insurance patients.

  • Review appropriate forms with patients and obtain all necessary signatures.

THESE DUTIES ARE IN ADDITION TO ANY OTHER DUTIES ASSIGNED TO THE INDIVIDUAL BY MANAGEMENT.

Required Skills:
  • High school diploma or equivalent. 

  • One year or more of related experience and/or training. 

  • Or Equivalent combination of education and experience. 

  • Communication skills: Excellent communication and negotiation skills ability to effectively present information to patients, physicians, and other employees of surgery center. 

  • Basic math skills.

  • Excellent office etiquette.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology.

  • Knowledge of insurance plans.

  • Computer skills.

  • Ability to handle confidential information

  • Ability to foresee problems and be proactive in problem solving.

  • Ability to work under pressure

  • Prefer previous experience working with AdvantX. (Patient Accounting System)

  • Ability to enter data into computer, and use office equipment

  • Knowledge of how to access benefits from various sources such as phone, person, websites

  • Ability to interpret benefits in order to convey to patient and to calculate allowable

  • Ability to use discretion in dealing with the public 

  • Ability to communicate patient benefits and payment options effectively and professionally

  • Ability to calculate allowable and patient responsibility accurately
