Southwestern Ambulatory Surgery Center has a need for a full time Dental Assistant!

Job Summary: The Dental Assistant will work under the direct supervision of the dentist.The Dental Assistant will perform all duties necessary to assist the dentist in all aspects of the dental procedures performed for the patient.The staff member must be able to plan and provide interventions that take into consideration age specific needs of all patients.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES/ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Follows all policies and procedures of Southwestern Ambulatory Surgery Center as they pertain to job specific duties
  • Follow infection control guidelines including but not limited to hand hygiene, cleaning, sterilization and disinfection practices as well as radiation safety.
  • Follows safety guidelines including but not limited to fire safety, OSHA, workplace violence and bloodborne pathogens.
  • Maintains patient confidentially as relevant to HIPPA.
  • Works under direction of the credentialed dentist and circulating RN.
  • Anticipate the needs of the dentist.
  • Prepares all equipment needed to perform dental procedures.
  • Performs all counts per policy.
  • Assists in the cost effective maintenance of all dental supplies and instruments.
  • Assists in inventory counting.
  • Accountable for reporting any missing or broken equipment to materials manager promptly.Also, accountable for informing material manager if using last supply.
  • Assist the dentist in developing x-rays and maintenance of equipment.
  • Adheres to policies and procedures of the facility (Follows infection control practices per policy including hand hygiene)
  • May be required to stay “late” should patients still present in the OR’s receiving dental care.

Required Skills:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of approved course for Dental Assistant is preferred
  • State mandated background checks.
  • BLS (renewed every two years)
