Responsibilities

At Pediatric Surgery Center, Florida we provide first-class surgical services for local communities and recognize our employees as our number one assets. We focus on offering a high quality, ambulatory care alternative to a hospital for surgical procedures. Pediatric Surgery Center is designed to meet both the emotional and medical needs of children and their families before, during and after a procedure. Specialty areas include ENT, GI, General Surgery, Ophthalmology, and Dental.

PACU Nurse Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring post-operative patients' levels of consciousness during recovery from anesthesia.
  • Measuring and recording patients' vital signs.
  • Closely observing patients for signs of side effects of anesthesia medication.
  • Treating pain, nausea, and other post-operative symptoms of anesthesia.
  • Updating charts, patient files, and medical records.
  • Collaborating with the medical team on post-operative patient care and facilitating timely specialized interventions.
  • Providing comfort and reassurance to distressed post-operative patients and concerned family members.
  • Educating patients and their families on post-surgery care, as well as answering questions.

    4. Promote the environment that recognizes the worth and rights of patients, families, and staff.
    5. Attend educational and mandatory in-services, Quality Assurance activities, Infection Control activities and participate in department staff meetings.
    6. Continue own growth and development through appropriate educational resources.
    7. Perform other job duties and assist other employees as needed.
    8. Accountable to support and uphold the Facility’s mission in all aspects.
  • Adhere to and monitor all OSHA Safety Standards throughout the Facility and grounds.

Required Experience:
  • Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing Program  
  • Current State of Florida licensure required
  • One year experience in PACU, ICU, or Emergency Room preferred
  • One year Pediatric care preferred
  • CPR certification required
  • PALS certification recommended
