Minimally Invasive Spine Center of New England is committed to strong patient-focused care and consideration. We are seeking a business office professional that also committed to service-excellence. This team member will serve as our administrative assistant/ surgery scheduler.

Job Summary: The Administrative Assistant/ Surgery Scheduler's main duty is to make sure that all surgeries and procedures are timely scheduled, in accordance with established protocols for the center and established workflow. These individuals are responsible for making sure that any issues or problems such as overlapping, or add-on procedures are adjusted within the daily schedule. Working as an operating room scheduler is hard work which requires one to be exceptionally organized and communicative to several audiences.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Sets priorities and organizes work.
  • Schedules patient procedures to ensure efficient and accurate processing of information.
  • Coordinates with anesthesia groups to confirm scheduling for coverage.
  • Work on RFI’s and patient documentation
  • Accurately uses procedure codes to ensure proper billing and coding.
  • Chart Prep and collection of patient PHI
  • Check patients in and collect co-pays.
  • Answer phones professionally
  • Verifies information being entered into system is correct, i.e., spelling of name, DOB, gender, insurance information, etc.
  • Ensuring all necessary paperwork for any patient add-ons are received by the appropriate staff in a timely manner.
  • Communicates changes to schedule to appropriate staff and providers.
  • Cross trains with other areas.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Special projects as necessary
  • Attention to detail a must.
  • Completes consents and ensures accuracy.
  • Promote positive relationships with scheduling coordinators, physicians and staff members.

Work Schedule:

  • 5 days a week, 8 hours days
  • 8:30am – 5:00pm


Required Skills:
  • Minimum 2-4 years of hospital or medical office experience required.
  • Must be able to communicate verbally and non-verbally in a professional way.
  • Ability to use time wisely in preparing work area to meet high-paced demand.
  • Show a genuine desire to work and improve the hospital as a whole.
  • Professional appearance.
  • Strong medical terminology.
  • Must demonstrate excellent phone etiquette and exceptional customer service skills.
