PRN Certified Nurse Tech - PreOP/PACU Department

Description:

Assist with patient flow by bringing patients back to Pre-Op and escorting discharged patients out, including but not limited to handling use of slings, crutches, etc. Will be the primary clerical resource for Pre-Op and PACU. At the discretion of and under the direction of nursing staff, will assist in all phases of clerical duties that support the operation of the Pre-Op/PACU units. Assists in entering patient information into computer systems, making copies and faxing, answers telephones, answer patient call lights and informing nurse of patient need, break down charts on discharged patients, organizing and performing first audit of medical record prior to turning chart into Medical Records. Assist in HIM duties as assigned to include but not be limited to following up with physicians on completion of charts and other duties as assigned. Non-clerical duties include: clean/prep Pre-Op/PACU rooms and bays including stretchers and equipment. Stock Pre-Op/PACU supplies and patient refreshments. The lists of duties are understood to be ongoing and will be amended as needed and as additional responsibilities are added.

Required Skills:
  • High School graduate (minimum); prefer some college
  • Certification (CNA/MA) preferred
  • Minimum one year experience in any of the following: Hospital, High Volume Clinic, Private Physicians’ Office, Nursing Home.
  • Employee will need to have BLS or acquire within first 60 days of employment.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Medical Terminology proficiency
  • Computer literacy
