Responsibilities
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
The following description of the job responsibilities and performance expectations are intended to reflect the primary responsibilities of the job but are not intended to describe all duties other responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.
- Prepares room, equipment and supplies needed for procedure.
- Opens sterile packs and supplies, using Surgeon's preference card for specific requests.
·In addition: checks chart, confirm consent, history and physical, laboratory results, allergies and confirms operative site with patient and surgeon.
- Brings patient to Operating Room suite/ Procedure Room and assists patient to the operating bed after braking of liter
- Positions patient for safe functional alignment, exposure of surgical site and to provide physical support.
- Assists anesthesia provider with monitor leads, blood pressure cuff and oximeter placement and remains at patient's side during induction and positioning.
- Properly positions and connects equipment such as electrocautery, suction and power equipment or endoscope and monitor.
·Performs sponge, needle counts and instrument counts, if required. Obtains any sterile supplies needed throughout procedure.
·Maintains an aseptic controlled environment.
- Follows proper procedures regarding exposure to Category I tasks.
- Follows proper procedures for handling hazardous waste materials.
- Facilitates prompt turnover of room for next surgical case.
- Documents information required on operating room record.
- Follows appropriate operating room policies and procedures.
- Complete chart (endoscopy notes) for each patient. Fill out appropriate specimen forms and log in laboratory book.
Required Skills:
Qualifications:
Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Pennsylvania.
BLS, ACLS, PALS Certification
