Job Title: AR Collector

Reporting Relationship: Reports to the Business Office Manager

Job Summary: Responsible for maintaining and understanding accounts receivable (AR) status of all billing accounts. Responsible for communicating to manger any contract changes, updates or chronic carrier disputes. Submits account adjustments to manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Reviews and works accounts from reports ran by BOM on outstanding AR on a monthly basis.
  • Calls insurance companies to determine states on all accounts.
  • Sends any necessary copies or supporting documentation required by insurance companies.
  • Notes all contact with insurance companies and patients in the PAS.
  • Follows up on all appeals and/or correspondence within 48 hours of receipt.
  • Responsible for follow-up on all accounts at least once a month.
  • Mails outpatient statements and follows up on monthly agreements.
  • Communicates to BOM any contract changes, interpretation issues, updates or disputes.
  • Reviews and submits approved accounts to the collection agency.
  • Prepares patient and insurance refund checks.
  • Utilizes center clearinghouse and other carriers websites to assist in claim status.
  • Checks accuracy of payments from insurance company.
  • Answers incoming calls from insurance companies and/or patients.
  • Is crossed trained to effectively perform other business office duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS and EDUCATIONAL and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual shall be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability require. High School education and/or equivalent; up to one year of related experience or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Shall have demonstrated computer skills.
