PACU Registered Nurse (RN)s are an integral part of the surgical team, providing essential nursing care to patients during surgical cases. Their role requires a high level of accuracy and professionalism in a fast-paced surgical environment. PACU Registered Nurse (RN)s are responsible for ensuring that patients receive the highest standard of care during surgery. Their ability to maintain a professional approach while providing nursing care is critical in ensuring positive patient outcomes while keeping patients and their families informed. Will work directly with surgeons, medical/surgical staff and post-acute caregivers to create comprehensive patient care from pre- to post-op. Responsibilities
Memorial Hermann Surgery Center Brazoria, located in Lake Jackson, Texas, is a premier outpatient surgery center committed to providing high-quality, safe, and patient-focused care. As part of the Memorial Hermann Health System and United Surgical Partners International (USPI), we specialize in a wide range of surgical procedures while maintaining exceptional clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction.
We are seeking a full-time Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse (RN) to join our perioperative team. This role is perfect for a nurse who enjoys providing compassionate, detail-oriented care to patients recovering from anesthesia in a fast-paced surgical environment.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and assess patients in the post-anesthesia care unit following surgery
- Administer medications, manage IVs, and provide interventions as necessary to ensure patient safety and comfort
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and perioperative staff to coordinate patient care
- Educate patients and families on post-operative care and recovery instructions
- Document patient care accurately and in a timely manner according to policies and regulations
- Maintain compliance with infection prevention, safety, and quality standards
- Assist with patient transfers and prepare PACU for incoming patients
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with current Texas RN license
- BLS certification required; ACLS preferred (or willingness to obtain)
- Minimum of 1 year of recent nursing experience in PACU, PreOp, or critical care setting preferred
- Strong patient assessment, IV, and medication administration skills
