Organizeandassigndailyworkflowwithintheteam.

Operatescomputerizedlaboratoryequipmenttofix,dehydrate,andinfiltratewithwax,tissue specimens to be preserved for study by the Pathologist.

Appropriatelystainsandlabelsspecimens.

Accessioningandgrossingofsamples.

Performsspecialstainsandimmunohistochemistryprocedures.

Responsibleforpreventativemaintenanceandtroubleshootingofequipmentandlaboratory computers.

Keepsaccuraterecordsincludingequipmentpreventativemaintenance andrepair,QAandQC records, temperature and equipment charts, safety procedures, training exposure, and waste management.

Preparesslidesofspecimenstoenhancevisibilityundermicroscope.

Examinesslidesundermicroscopetoensuretissuepreparation meetslaboratoryrequirements.Studies slides under microscope to detect deviations from expected results andreports abnormalities for further study.

Assumesresponsibilityforkeepingworkareaclean.

Completesthoroughcl,eaningattheendofworkperiod.

Prepareschemicalsandstainsforperformingtests.Usesallchemicalsfollowingsafetyprocedures. Maintains accurate andadequate inventory ofreagents and tracks utilization and expiration dates.

Understandsandfollowsalllaboratoryaccreditationstandards,OSHA,EPA,andCLIAstandards. Maintains educational credits and other requirements for licensure.

Trainnewstaffandcoachcurrentstaffforoptimal performance andefficiency.Plan,assign,and direct work.

Addresscomplaintsandsolveproblems.


Required Skills:

Superiorcommunicationskillsbothverbalandwritten.

Abilitytoreadandinterpretdocumentssuchassafetyrules,operatingandmaintenance instructions, and procedures.

Abilitytowritetechnicalprocedures.Abilitytospeakeffectivelytopathologists, customers, and employees of the organization.

Demonstratedabilitytothriveinafastpacesettingwhilemanagingcompetingdemands.

Abilitytoadd,subtract,multiply, anddivideinallunitsofmeasure,usingwholenumbers,common fractions,anddecimals,Abilitytocomputerate,ratio,andpercent.Abilitytouseweightscales and metric measurements


Required Experience:

Associate's degree (A.A.) orequivalent from two-year college ortechnical school; orsixmonthsto one-yearrelatedexperience and/ortraining;orequivalent combination ofeducation andexperience.

PriorknowledgeofMicrosoft Office,primarilyWordandExcel.

HTorHTL(ASCP)Certificate/Licensepreferred.
