Responsibilities
USPI Hyde Park Surgery Center, is seeking a motivated RN PreOp to join our team. We have 3 OR rooms. We perform outpatient surgical procedures in ENT, Orthopedic, Pain Management, Spine. We are looking for a candidate to be available Monday-Friday. Candidate needs to be available for some early mornings and later evenings; schedule subject to changed based on surgical schedule and flow of day.
PART TIME (3 DAYS A WEEK)
Pre-operative Duties
- Manage patients’ admission processes to preoperative department in a hospital
- Assess the status of patients’ health in pre-op and ensure accuracy of identification wristband
- Ensure that operative and informed consents are in order
- Determine the surgeon and procedure being carried out
- Take and record vital statistics of patients to ensure readiness for surgical procedure
- Initiate IVs and ensure that patients are informed about the procedure and attending medical staff
Employees will be cross trained in other clinical areas and may be expected to perform duties other than their normal ones as staffing and patient needs change.

Required Skills:
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current Texas Nursing License
- Current BLS, ACLS and PALS
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in Pre-Op/PACU
- Possess the ability to work independently and prioritize responsibilities
- Possess the ability to deal tactfully with patients, families, physicians, and employees
- Knowledgeable of policies and procedures specific to pre-operative and PACU (post anesthesia care unit)
- Clinically proficient in pre-op/ PACU nursing skills, demonstrating knowledge of the development needs of the pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient
- Physically and emotionally capable of performing responsibilities of position
