Northern Michigan Surgical Suites has an immediate need for a full time Lead Sterile Processing Tech! Northern Michigan Surgical Suites is a beautiful, state-of-the-art, multi-specialty center outpatient surgical center. It is designed to give patients, friends and family a relaxing experience before, during and after the procedure. Northern Michigan Surgical Suites also provides a high ratio of medical staff to patients in order to provide the highest quality experience and attentive care.

Job Summary: Under the general supervision of the Administrator / Clinician Director, coordinates and oversees the daily activities between the Operating Room (OR), schedule and SterileProcessing Department (SPD) to ensure efficient case flow and needs.

Responsibilities: 

  • Supervise the SterileProcessing Department Staff
  • Clinical resource for perioperative services staff members using evidence-based knowledge and prevailing standards
  • Evaluate current practice through quality and performance improvement measures
  • Demonstrate effective communication and collaboration skills with members of the perioperative team and other stakeholders
  • Coordinates, facilitates, and manages change with in the health care organization
  • Ensure that the appropriate personnel, equipment, and supplies are available to run the SPD department effectively
  • Serve as a member of a multidisciplinary team in planning perioperative patient care
  • Use effective conflict resolution techniques
  • Participate in interviews for staff selection for SPD department
  • Assist in evaluating staff members performance
  • Serve as role model of professional behavior
  • Assess the political climate within the organization
  • Pursue professional growth and participate in a professional organization

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Completion of a Sterile Process Certification Program.
  • CRCST or CSPDT certification preferred
  • 2 years of experience in a multi-specialty operating room environment to include knowledge of sterileprocessing operations and issues
  • Knowledge of medical instruments and surgical procedures as related to the OR
  • Knowledge of the proper set up of an operating room
  • Ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationships with physicians, surgeons, operating room staff and other healthcare professionals
  • Good computer skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks successfully
  • Demonstrate clinical competency, leadership, and teaching capabilities
