Lead Sterile Processing Technician
Boyne City, Michigan Northern Michigan Surgical Suites (13853)Northern Michigan Surgical Suites has an immediate need for a full time Lead Sterile Processing Tech! Northern Michigan Surgical Suites is a beautiful, state-of-the-art, multi-specialty center outpatient surgical center. It is designed to give patients, friends and family a relaxing experience before, during and after the procedure. Northern Michigan Surgical Suites also provides a high ratio of medical staff to patients in order to provide the highest quality experience and attentive care.
Job Summary: Under the general supervision of the Administrator / Clinician Director, coordinates and oversees the daily activities between the Operating Room (OR), schedule and SterileProcessing Department (SPD) to ensure efficient case flow and needs.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise the SterileProcessing Department Staff
- Clinical resource for perioperative services staff members using evidence-based knowledge and prevailing standards
- Evaluate current practice through quality and performance improvement measures
- Demonstrate effective communication and collaboration skills with members of the perioperative team and other stakeholders
- Coordinates, facilitates, and manages change with in the health care organization
- Ensure that the appropriate personnel, equipment, and supplies are available to run the SPD department effectively
- Serve as a member of a multidisciplinary team in planning perioperative patient care
- Use effective conflict resolution techniques
- Participate in interviews for staff selection for SPD department
- Assist in evaluating staff members performance
- Serve as role model of professional behavior
- Assess the political climate within the organization
- Pursue professional growth and participate in a professional organization
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED required
- Completion of a Sterile Process Certification Program.
- CRCST or CSPDT certification preferred
- 2 years of experience in a multi-specialty operating room environment to include knowledge of sterileprocessing operations and issues
- Knowledge of medical instruments and surgical procedures as related to the OR
- Knowledge of the proper set up of an operating room
- Ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationships with physicians, surgeons, operating room staff and other healthcare professionals
- Good computer skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks successfully
- Demonstrate clinical competency, leadership, and teaching capabilities
