Medical Assistant
Castro Valley, California Bay Area Endoscopy Center, LLC (15037)Under the supervision of the RN, supports patient care by:
- Providing clear explanations of procedures
- Assisting in psychologically preparing patients for surgery
- Communicating effectively with patients, families, visitors, and the ASC healthcare team
Accesses and accurately records patient health information in the Center’s electronic health record (EHR), ensuring data integrity per ASC protocols
Assists patients with care and mobility needs throughout the ASC, supporting transitions between pre-op, operating, and post-op areas
Participates in emergency and resuscitative efforts as necessary, under the direction of the attending physician, anesthesia provider, and/or Center Manager
Monitors and records vital signs, promptly reporting any abnormalities to the RN to ensure patient safety
Performs point-of-care blood glucose testing as directed by the RN and per the physician's order
Ensures thorough and accurate documentation of all care activities in the medical record to support quality patient outcomes and regulatory compliance
Maintains a sterile and organized work environment by cleaning and disinfecting reusable equipment in pre-op and post-op bays according to established policies and manufacturer guidelines

Required Skills:
- Must be competent in the use of basic office equipment including computer, printer, telephone, and fax.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and remain poised and professional when interacting with potentially hostile patients and family members.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with physicians and all medical professionals.
- Current certification in BLS.
Required Experience:
- High school education or equivalent, Medical Assistant.
- Previous experience in a customer service or clinical setting.
