Medical Laboratory Technician/Technologist

USPI Arizona Specialty Hospital is currently hiring a Medical Laboratory Technician/Technologist. 

USPI Arizona Specialty Hospital is a specialty inpatient hospital which was established to set a new standard for excellence and patient satisfaction in the delivery of orthopedic and spinal surgery. Arizona Specialty Hospital provides excellent patient services and the highest level of care, with the overall goal of improving the delivery of healthcare in Maricopa County and beyond.

Job Summary: Lab Technician or Technologist is responsible for all departmental functions in support of the hospital mission, vision, and facility goals. The Tech needs to be efficient in performance of services provided by the clinical laboratory. This position establishes effective working relationships with all constituencies including patients, physicians and employees. The Technician/Technologist communicates the needs of the department to the Laboratory Manager.

Required Skills:
  • Bachelor degree in medical technology or an appropriate biological/chemical/medical science from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in an accredited laboratory. Experience with Point of Care Testing.
  • Certification by one of the following accrediting agencies: CLS(NCA) and or qualify under CLIA CFR subpart M 493.1449 MT(ASCP) or categorical, MT(HEW), MT(AMT),
  • Knowledge of governmental and regulating policies/standards.
  • Demonstrate competent in handling the needs of pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission, Medicare, and all other regulatory standards affecting laboratory is encouraged.
  • Must possess ability to prioritize responsibilities and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Possess the ability to deal tactfully with all types of personnel, medical staff and the public.
  • Possess the ability to make independent decisions.
  • Ability to detect color and color changes.
