USPI Memorial Hermann Surgery Center Cypress is seeking a motivated Lead Endoscopy Technician to join our team. We have 1 OR rooms and 3 Procedure room. We perform outpatient surgical procedures in Gastroenterology. Position requires weekdays only -- no holidays, weekends, or call. Some early mornings and later evenings may be required; schedule subject to change based on surgical schedule and flow of the day.

Job Summary: The Endo Tech assists endoscopy team during endoscopy procedures. They arrange and inventory sterile set-up for operation and passes items as needed to the endoscopy team. Assists in preparing and moving patients, and in cleaning the endoscopy room. The Endo Tech is responsible for the provision of care to meet identified patient outcomes and to achieve the goals of the facility as directed by the Registered Nurse. Provides a centralized distribution and control of supplies and equipment to the facility. The tech also stores prepared articles and supplies in designated areas. Maintains and tracks inventory according to facility procedures. This position reports to the Charge Nurse and ASC Director.

Responsibilities: 

  • Setting up and troubleshooting endoscopy equipment (scopes, towers, light sources, insufflators) for GI cases
  • Assisting physicians during procedures (positioning, specimen handling, biopsy forceps passing)
  • Ensuring proper high-level disinfection (HLD) and reprocessing of scopes per AAMI/SGNA and manufacturer IFU standards
  • Maintaining scope tracking/reprocessing logs for regulatory compliance (state health dept, AAAHC/Joint Commission surveys)
  • Scheduling and supervising endo tech staff, including competency checks and onboarding new techs
  • Serving as the point person for scope repair vendors and biomed on equipment issues
  • Acting as a liaison between physicians, nursing, and sterile processing to keep case turnover efficient
  • Maintaining infection control standards and audit-readiness for scope reprocessing (a frequent survey focus area)
  • Tracking quality metrics like scope damage rates, reprocessing turnaround times, and case delays
  • Participating in QAPI (Quality Assurance Performance Improvement) initiatives related to endoscopy
  • Managing endoscopy supply and instrument inventory, ordering, and par levels
  • Coordinating loaner scope/instrument logistics for high-volume days

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 2+ years’ experience in established endoscopy center
  • Must have working knowledge of standard Gastroenterology procedures.
