Responsibilities
The Surgery Aide assists the surgery staff with maintaining a clean and safe environment. They assist with cleaning rooms between procedures, stocking supplies, lifting and positioning patients, transporting lab specimens, and other duties as directed.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
1.Cleans and maintains a safe, orderly work environment within the department.Reports potential safety hazards and takes remedial action when possible.
2.Obtains carts/beds/cribs for each patient, and cleans and returns wheelchairs to preop area.
3.Respond to calls for turnover with the mop bucket. Clean the OR room: will wipe down lights, the OR bed, equipment, and tables, and mop the floor between each surgical procedure. Will help put on new sheets, replace garbage bags, and suction liners.
4.Responds to calls for lifting/positioning help when available. Assists with positioning patients or holding limbs for the prep as needed.
5.Take specimens to lab as needed.
6.Change out garbage bags at the scrub sinks as needed throughout the day.
7.Restock the blanket warmers as needed. Rotate the bottom shelf up, and put new blankets on the bottom. Obtain more blankets from housekeeping as needed.Restock the fluids in the fluid warmers.
8.Restock the items above the scrub sinks, and keep hand sanitizers and soaps at the scrub sinks filled.
9.Restock the fluids in the fluid cupboards daily.
10.Stock the specimen containers, suction liners, and red containment covers in each subscrub.
11.As rooms close down for the day, restock the sheets, garbage bags, suction liners, specimen containers, and gloves in each room and sign off.Restock these items throughout the day as needed.
12.Dock the neptunes for cleaning.
13.Complete monthly assigned housekeeping, and sign off in the housekeeping book. Help with the late shift duties if there is downtime.
14.Assist the OR Nurses and techs as needed/asked. There may be things you can assist with not listed above.
15.Teamwork, positive attitude, and good communication skills are required.
