Reporting to the Collections Supervisor, Correspondence Support is responsible for the daily processing of incoming correspondence and distribution to the appropriate departments for completion. This role is a supporting role for Level 1 and Level 2 Collectors.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Act as a resource for all critical aspects of the CBO which includes liaising between departments as well as assisting Level 1 and Level 2 Collectors.
• Manages incoming medical record requests from payers; includes preparing requested records and timely submission via payer portal, fax, or mail.
• Access multiple payer portals to verify patient eligibility and submit medical records.
• Contact patients and effectively communicate what additional information is needed for their insurance carriers to process claims.
• Communicate payer trends to management regularly.
• Have excellent written and verbal skills.
• Understanding explanation of benefits.
• Scanning.
• Meet deadlines.
• Meet all quality and productivity metrics.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
• Must demonstrate a positive demeanor, good verbal, and written communication skills, and be professional in both appearance and approach. Must be a team player – Always willing to help in whatever way possible and go the extra mile to get the job done.
• Must be able to handle potentially stressful situations and multi-task and handle competing priorities while meeting or exceeding deadlines.
• Must have the skills necessary to operate the office equipment required to fulfill job duties.
• Ability to work independently with little supervision.
• Ability to be resourceful but know when to engage others for support, escalate for help or ask clarifying questions.
• Basic understanding of Hospital Revenue Cycle Services, preferred
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.


Required Skills:

PREFERRED SKILLS
• Knowledge of payer portals
• Understanding of Medical Terminology
• Microsoft Excel and Outlook preferred.
• Any of the following: Cerner, nThrive, Advantx, Waystar, Meditech, and/or EffecientC experience preferred.
