Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Uptown is a joint venture surgical hospital between Baylor Scott & White Health (BSWH), United Surgical Partners International (USPI), and local physicians. Baylor Scott & White Medical Center- Uptown provides a wide range of medical and surgical services to the greater North Texas area across 8 ORs, 24 private Inpatient rooms, a full-service ED. The hospital specializes in both inpatient and outpatient procedures in Orthopedics, Joint Replacement, Spine, General, Bariatrics, Surgical Oncology, ENT, Reconstructive Surgery, and other surgical specialties.

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Uptown is searching to hire a Full-Time, Physical Therapy Technician.

Job Summary:

Trained healthcare provider who works under the direct supervision of the Physical Therapists. Will be trained to work with patients, with a variety of diagnoses, on the post surgical unit to assist the therapists (PT and OT) with care of these patients.

Assist with Performance Improvement Initiatives for our Center of Excellence Programs.

  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with infection control policies and procedures.
  • Assist with performance improvement activities in the department which may include but not limited to assisting with audits in the electronic health record, scheduling patients for the pre-operative. education classes, aggregating clinical quality data and using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Assisting the Therapists and Nursing staff with the Joint Wellness program on the Post Surgical Unit.
  • Assisting team lead with organizing/assigning the staffing assignments for the Therapists in the Pre-Op, PACU and PSU.
  • Assisting therapists with patients who require more than one person for safety.
  • Managing the equipment needs of the patients.
  • Working under the supervision of a therapist with non-Medicare patients. Instructions provided by the therapist.
  • Assisting therapist to be more efficient with patient care.
  • Assisting with onboarding and sending reminder emails in our patient engagement platform to patients.
  • Administrative/ departmental duties and other tasks as assigned by the Director.


Required Skills:

Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree preferred but not required
  • Previous PT technician experience preferred but not required
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office application to create documents, spreadsheets, presentations, roadmaps, and workflows
  • Ability to generate professional, clear written communications appropriate for the intended audience.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple tasks and strong time management skills.
  • Proven customer service skills with ability to work within all levels of the organization.
