Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer with hands-on experience to join our engineering team. This role bridges the gap between full-stack application development, complex database engineering, and system reliability. You will be a key driver in ensuring that our core web applications, backend C#/.NET services, and SQL Server databases are highly performant, scalable, and secure.

This role is ideal for a mid-level Systems Engineer or Full-Stack Developer who possesses deep data fluency and excels at looking at applications holistically—optimizing everything from frontend rendering components down to the database indexing layer.

Responsibilities

  • Backend & API Architecture: Design, build, and maintain robust backend services, and RESTful APIs using C# and .NET Core, ensuring high availability and secure client-server communication.
  • Database Engineering: Own the optimization, design, and auditing of SQL Server databases. Write complex stored procedures, optimize heavy queries (including window functions and nested joins), manage schema changes, and ensure strict data governance and integrity.
  • Full-Stack Feature Delivery: Develop and optimize scalable, modular user interfaces using JavaScript (ES6+) and modern frameworks (specifically Angular and/or React), utilizing SASS/SCSS for maintainable styling.
  • System Performance & Troubleshooting: Lead root-cause analysis for complex, multi-layered technical issues across the entire stack—diagnosing everything from frontend UI bottlenecks to backend API latency and database deadlocks.
  • CI/CD & DevOps: Manage and improve environment infrastructure, version control logic (Git), and deployment workflows. Drive automation within our CI/CD pipelines and local containerized environments (Docker, IIS).
  • AI Agentic: Ability to craft precise, context-rich prompts for AI tooling (e.g. Copilot, Claude, Junie), analyze output, and iterate prompts to refine outputs.
  • Code Quality & Mentorship: Participate in and lead code reviews, promoting best practices in clean code, structural design patterns, and comprehensive technical documentation. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior developers.

Qualifications

1. Database & Backend Mastery (Core Focus)

  • 4+ years of strong SQL Server experience: Expert-level capability in writing, auditing, and tuning complex queries, stored procedures, indexing, and handling large-scale data logic.
  • Strong proficiency in C# and .NET Core: Proven experience building production-grade Web APIs and services.
  • Deep understanding of RESTful architecture, authentication/authorization protocols (e.g., OAuth 2, JWT), and application security standards.

2. Frontend Frameworks & UI Engineering

  • Solid production experience with JavaScript (ES2020+)
  • Working knowledge of component-based UI architectures in Angular or React.
  • Experience with CSS, preprocessors (SASS/SCSS), and reactive design
  • Web accessibility standards and best practices

3. Infrastructure, DevOps & Testing

  • Advanced experience with Git (branching strategies, merge conflict resolution).
  • Practical experience running, debugging, or deploying applications via Kubernetes/Docker, IIS, or cloud environments (Google Cloud/Azure).
  • Experience writing unit and integration tests (e.g., xUnit, Vitest) to maintain high test coverage.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent practical field experience.
  • 4–6 years of professional experience in a software engineering, systems engineering, or data-driven application development role.
  • Experience working in highly regulated or data-sensitive environments (e.g., healthcare, finance, or compliance analytics) is highly preferred.

Soft Skills & Attributes

  • Systems Thinking: Exceptional ability to map business rules to complex technical architectures and anticipate how upstream changes impact downstream data.
  • Defensible Design: A commitment to writing clean, maintainable, and "audit-ready" code that is thoroughly documented.
  • Collaborative Leadership: Comfort collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders (product managers, analysts, senior leadership) and a natural aptitude for mentoring others.
  • Analytical Precision: A methodical, data-driven approach to solving performance bottlenecks and system bugs.

What We Offer

  • Autonomy & Ownership: The opportunity to spearhead integration projects and shape our database and application architecture.
  • Cross-Disciplinary Growth: A high-impact environment where you can balance deep software engineering with systems architecture and DevOps.
  • Mentorship Opportunities: A platform to grow your leadership skills by guiding early-career engineers.
  • Competitive compensation, robust benefits, and a highly collaborative engineering culture.
