Reporting to the Corporate Coding Director, the Inpatient Corporate Coding Supervisor is responsible for supervising coding audit workflows and outcomes. Collects, analyzes and presents data related to coding audit trends and ensures accuracy and compliance with coding guidelines. Leads coder training/education. Manages workflow related to coding quality process and procedures. Performs duties as necessary to support the coding quality improvement process both in the region and at corporate.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for supervising and managing post-bill DRGV audit reviews and reconciliations. Reviews, tracks, monitors and reconciles all coding audit related findings providing regular reporting and tracking of coder performance using audit tracking log. Supports Coding Manager as necessary with daily coding operations and supports and supervises overall Coding Quality performance for designated market.
  • Develop and implement action plans and strategies to reduce coding audit findings to improve coding accuracy, compliance, and best practices. Providing guidance, support, and training to coders on coding guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with coding guidelines and regulations, and audit processes to identify areas for improvement and ensure accurate coding practices. This includes providing feedback to coders and collaborating with other departments to address coding-related issues.
  • Identify and implement process improvement initiatives to enhance coding accuracy and efficiency
  • Provide feedback and coaching to coders on audit findings
  • Promotes positive co-worker relationships through teamwork and collaboration. Understands and supports the needs of individuals in other departments and promotes conflict resolution. Shares information, work knowledge and experience with coding staff and applicable team members. Offers assistance and promptly responds to requests
  • Demonstrates competency in the use of 3M software, including multiple groupers as well as all computer applications in area of responsibility.
  • Assists in coordination of internal/corporate audits and follow-up on findings.
  • Assists in coordination of state reporting submission and file validation.
  • Attends all corporate education sessions.

Required:

  • Associate’s degree in HIM related field.
  • RHIT Certification and/or CCS Certification
  • 5+ Years Coding Experience.
  • Must have a comprehensive knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS coding classification systems. The analytical abilities necessary to prepare various reports and records.
  • The interpersonal skills necessary to interact with all levels of department personnel, other departments, physicians and individuals from outside the Hospital.
  • Must have above average general office and computer skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in HIM Related field
  • RHIA and/or CCS Certification
  • 2+ Years of Leadership Experience.
  • Experience with auditing/education and managing high volume databases and driving process. improvement activities at the corporate level in a complex healthcare organization.

Compensation:

  • Pay: $66,768- $106,704 annually. Compensation depends on location, qualifications, and experience.
  • Management level positions may be eligible for sign-on and relocation bonuses.
