$5,000 Sign-On Bonus available.
USPI Paso Del Norte is seeking a motivated PreOp PACU Charge Nurse to join our team. We have 5 OR rooms and 1 Treatment room. We perform outpatient surgical procedures in Anesthesia, ENT, General, GI, Ortho, OB/GYN, Pain, Plastic, Podiatry. We are looking for a candidate to be available Monday-Friday, schedule subject to change based on surgical schedule and flow of the day. The candidate needs to be available for some early mornings and later evenings.
Position requires weekdays only -- no holidays, weekends, or call. Some later evenings required.
Job Duties:
Supervises the Preop/PACU staff to provide a daily smooth flow of cases.
Prepares monthly schedules.
Prepare, coordinate and perform monthly staff meetings
Communicate effectively with physicians to resolve issues and provide efficiency and smooth case flow.
Assists with education by coordinating and/or giving in-services.
Prepare schedules in the afternoon for next day.
Communicate with vendors and representatives for supplies, equipment or instruments
Works closely with Materials and Sterile Processing Dept to coordinate supplies & instrument needs.
Preparing and administering annual evaluations
Works closely with manager with hiring and orienting Preop/PACU staff members
Helps in revising and preparing policies that relate to Preop/PACU functions
Assistance in maintaining compliance for Joint Commission surveys
Enters company data collections and observations with company EDGE
MIDAS data entry.
Enters data into Kronos time keeping program
Assistance with staff counseling as necessary
Coordinates and assists in Performance Improvement Projects.

Required Skills:
Qualifications:
- Current Texas Nursing License
- Current CPR, ACLS, and PALS
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred.
- Minimum 2-year experience in a hospital setting
- Minimum of 2- 5 years' experience in Pre-Op/PACU or ICU
- Strong PreOp/PACU experience
- Ability to recognize, evaluate, solve problems and correct errors.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, hospital staff, physicians, vendors and the public.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Demonstrates accountability, professionalism, openness, receptive to change, creativity and innovative.
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to adapt to change quickly, strong knowledge base relative to surgery procedures and management of the surgical patient.
- Understands principles of aseptic technique and their implementation
- Ability to care for patients from infancy to geriatrics.
- Excellent teaching skills *
- Basic knowledge of Performance Improvement ideology
