Environmental Services Technician at Flagstaff Bone & Joint Surgical Center

The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for cleaning and ensuring the surgical center is well stocked, organized, and maintained to support safe and efficient patient care. This role plays a vital part in maintaining a clean environment throughout the facility while supporting daily operations and infection prevention standards.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Previous housekeeping or environmental services experience in a healthcare setting preferred
  • Knowledge of infection prevention and safety protocols preferred
  • Ability to organize and prioritize responsibilities effectively
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced surgical environment
  • Ability to safely operate cleaning equipment and handle cleaning solutions

Responsibilities

  • Gather all trash and dirty linen and dispose of in appropriate receptacles
  • Wipe stretchers, furniture, and equipment with germicidal solution
  • Apply clean linen to stretchers and beds
  • Restock supplies in all designated areas as needed
  • Clean tables, furniture, equipment, and other surfaces with germicidal solution
  • Mop floors with germicidal solution
  • Perform terminal cleaning of operating rooms when appropriate
  • Participate as a team member in support of all departments and clinical areas
  • Organize housekeeping activities efficiently and effectively
  • Support cost containment initiatives by using supplies economically
  • Assist with supply and equipment inventories to maintain stock levels and availability
  • Maintain patient privacy, dignity, and respect for patient rights
  • Respond promptly to the needs of patients, physicians, and management
  • Gather and set up needed equipment and supplies before patient arrival
  • Demonstrate proper use of equipment and ensure equipment is in working order
  • Prepare departments for the following day before the end of each shift
  • Restock linens and IV fluids in warmers daily as needed
  • Perform additional duties as assigned in compliance with USPI policies, procedures, and regulations
