HIM Analyst at Baylor Scott & White Surgical Hospital Fort Worth:

  • Performs a variety of entry-level tasks and special projects.
  • Assists in the coordination of medical staff services activities and analysis of various department systems and procedures; and performs related work as required.
  • Provides support and back up for personnel at Baylor Scott & White Surgical Hospital Fort Worth and Outpatient Center.
  • Assists in Collecting, maintaining, and making available to authorized users timely, accurate and complete patient health information.

Required Skills:

Education:

  • High School Diploma, or equivalent


Required Experience:

Specific Job Experience:

  • Health information system experience. 
  • One year of clerical/office related experience, or equivalent combination of education and preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to sustain a level of professionalism with all personnel.
  • Ability to effectively present information in group situations to patients, physicians and the employees of the organization.
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Good communication and people skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office with the ability to become familiar with facility-specific programs and software.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology helpful
  • Computer knowledge at must
  • Must understand confidential nature of hospital work
  • Ability to utilize Electronic Healthcare Records for patient documentation

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for performing medical staff duties that require discretion and independent judgment.
  • Answers incoming calls as needed and interfaces with customers, physicians, staff, patients, vendors and administrators appropriately.
  • Maintaining the confidentiality and security of sensitive information
  • Assists with maintaining facility performance measure tracking systems and database management.
  • Organizing and maintaining filing systems of paper and electronic documents
  • Assists with filing and special projects as directed by Supervisor.
  • Prioritizing, locating, retrieving, assembling, scanning, analyzing and electronically tracking health information using the facilities EHR according to current policies and procedures.
  • Assisting with Release of Information duties according to current policies and procedures.
  • Maintains Health Information in a manner compliant with established ethics.
  • Other duties as assigned.
