Materials Manager at Baylor Scott & White Surgical Hospital Fort Worth:
·The Manager of Materials Management places an emphasis on leadership in all department services with direct accountability to meeting staffing and scheduling demands.Additionally, they drive efficient procurement of products and services in accordance with approved guidelines and polices for Baylor Scott & White Surgical Hospital at Fort Worth and Baylor Scott & White Surgical Hospital Outpatient Center.A focus on receiving, stocking and distribution duties adhering to all requirements of the USPI & BSHFW Materials Management Policy and Procedure is required.
·This role is expected to work collegially with the departments they directly and indirectly support, to maintain efficient communication in the shared goal to have the required supplies needed for operations and patient care.
Qualifications:
Education
•High School diploma, or equivalent
•Bachelor’s degree in Business, or related field
Required Experience
·Minimum of three years' medical purchasing/buying experience
·Minimum of five years' management experience
·Demonstrated successful experience in contract negotiations
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
•Knowledge of computer inventory management systems, various software programs and medical products
•Working knowledge of stocking and storing medical and non-medical supplies
•Possess the ability to prioritize responsibilities and handle multiple projects simultaneously
•Effective oral and written communication skills
•Ability to utilize Electronic Healthcare Record system
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the establishment and maintenance of a unit work environment that reflects Hospital’s EDGE™, performance improvement and customer service program consistent with the Hospital’s Mission Statement.
- Ensures adequate inventory levels by checking shelves and inventory system and establishes par levels for all supplies.
- Ensures utilization of USPI national agreements.
- Oversees maintenance of tissue tracking with the Facilities Tissue Coordinator
- Negotiates pricing and costs savings
- Interfaces with appropriate departments to ensure proper placement, follow up and delivery of orders.
- Effectively communicates unexpected events; such as substitutions, backorders, or missing items, with departments in a timely and proactive manner
- Interacts with sales representatives resolving issues and problems related to supplies or the delivery of supplies.
- Establishes and maintains proper document flow and information updates for the inventory system.
- Oversees all incoming supply and equipment items.
- Oversees supply dated items and regularly rotates stock.
- Conducts physical inventory of implants and inventory items as required
- Supervises New Product Evaluation Committee
- Performs other tasks and duties as assigned in an efficient, effective and cost-conscious manner, complying with all BSHFW’s policies, procedures and regulations.
- Exhibits appropriate quality service behaviors in meeting and/or exceeding the needs of departmental customers, co-workers and others they encounter as representative of BSHFW.
- Appropriately uses BSHFW revenues to improve or enhance service and patient care
- Assists PI with compilation, analysis and presentation of data
- Proactively identifies and researches new resources and vendors
- Maintains daily, weekly and monthly reporting for Executive Committee as to where BSHFW stands at any point in time
- Works on special projects as assigned by Executive Committee
- Actively participates in Director/Leadership activities
- Other duties as assigned
