Pharmacy Tech Full Time
· Under the direct supervision of the Director of Pharmacy and Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician has primary responsibility in the stocking daily anesthesia drug boxes, unit dose packaging and maintenance of floor stock, and maintaining appropriate records and charges; assisting in related activities as directed by Pharmacist, Director of Pharmacy or CNO in Director’s absence.
· This is the advanced Pharmacy Technician. Incumbents in this class lead and perform specialized pharmacy-related clerical and technical work that requires knowledge of methods and terminology used in the medical/pharmaceutical profession. Incumbents work under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist. A Pharmacy Technician performs “non-discretionary tasks” that do not require the professional judgment of a pharmacist. Work performed by a Pharmacy Technician, such as filling a prescription or assisting with the maintenance and manufacturing of intravenous solutions, is reviewed and authorized by the pharmacist.
· Must have mathematical ability to calculate dosages and amounts required.
· Must have 2 years pharmacy tech experience.
· Hospital experience preferred.
· IV Certification (ACPE certified) required.
· Skills: Knowledge of medical and pharmacy terminology is required. An understanding of pharmacy computer system operations (hardware, software, and operating systems) is required. Effective communication skills and the ability to work collegially with a wide variety of professionals in a fast-paced health care setting is required. The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required.
· High school graduate or GED.
· Must be registered with the State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician.
· Certification as a Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician is required.
