Responsibilities
Fresno Surgical Hospital is known for excellence in surgical care delivery and patient satisfaction. Our goal is to provide a high quality of care through compassion to all we serve by creating a supportive environment for patients, clinical staff and employees.
This position is accountable for assisting the Clinical Lab Scientist in the performance of their duties, performs EKG’s and venipunctures.
Salary: $23
Hours: 8 hours
Required Skills:
Minimum Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum one year of phlebotomy experience in an acute care setting is preferred.
Required License and Certifications
- Valid Phlebotomy certification with the State of California Department of Health Services is required.
Required Skills
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to demonstrate clear oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of good laboratory practices and specimen integrity & stability.
- Ability to effectively plan and prioritize work, multitask and manage time effectively.
- Ability to maintain collaborative working relationships to ensure a positive and productive work environment.
- Ability to provide exceptional customer service.
- Knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office and Meditech Systems.
Essential Skills
- Assists Clinical Lab Scientist with laboratory specimen processing and clerical work when needed.
- Maintains laboratory and pathology work area, blood collection trays, supply inventory and ordering process.
- Completes duties in a time efficient manner, knows how to prioritize STAT orders, ASAP orders, scheduled orders and outpatients.
- Performs proper patient identification process following hospital’s patient identifiers prior to blood collection or EKG procedure.
- Consistently draws blood competently and expediently with as little patient discomfort as possible.
- Performs EKG's efficiently with timely completion of annual EKG competency.
- Requires minimal supervision in performance of job duties but seeks guidance and direction whenever needed.
