Responsibilities

This position is a member of the multidisciplinary health care team, responsible for the provision of medical nutrition therapy for assigned patient populations. This person will collaborate with the Culinary Services department to ensure patient nutrition needs are met and will function as a community resource for nutrition information and education. This person actively participates in team managerial functions.   The Clinical Dietitian consults with patients on nutritional need.

  • Assist with development /implement policies/ procedures that guide/support the provision of services
  • Assist with recommendation on sufficient number qualified/competent staff to provide department services in support of provision
  • Assist with patient diets
  • Maintain registered dietitian (RD) status
  • Knowledgeable of the principles and practices of Dietetics and Nutrition
  • Assist with in-services education for the Culinary Services department
  • Collaborates with the Neonatologist/NNP to plan diets that meet the special needs of neonates/infants


Required Skills:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food and Nutrition
  • Must be a Registered Dietitian and maintain active status as a Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration
  • Must have active Dietitian license with the state of Texas
  • Preferred active membership in the American Dietetic Association
  • 1-2 years pediatric or neonatal experience
  • BLS/CPR Certification (upon hire or within 90 days of employment)
  • Demonstrate competent administrative and leadership skills, demonstrating knowledge of the development and nutrition needs of neonates/infants, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients
  • Knowledge of TJC and Medicare standards affecting nutritional services
  • Must possess ability to prioritize responsibilities and handle multiple projects simultaneously
