The Telemetry Tech/Health Unit Clerk works under the general direction of the Manager, Post Surgical Unit, CNO and Medical staff.  The Telemetry technician monitors, evaluates and documents cardiac rhythm readings.  Observes and evaluates cardiac rhythms by monitoring equipment.  Ensures that alarms are set for low and high heart rates and functioning properly.  Measure and document cardiac rhythm intervals recorded on rhythm strips for each patient according to rhythm changes.  Place documentation in patient’s chart.  Communicates with professional personnel on cardiac rhythm of patients.  Notifies personnel immediately of any life threatening cardiac rhythms.

Assists nursing staff to provide support to patients, families, visitors, physicians and vendors.  The position involves clerical duties such as entering physician orders, chart compiling, greeting visitors, stocking, organizing and communications with all customers.  Assisting staff with keeping work desk area clean and clutter free.  Assisting in traffic control, may be required to assist in patient transfer.  Assist recovering lost charges.  Computer entry.

Required Skills:
  • High School Graduate
  • Previous experience in secretarial/receptionist role
  • Accredited Telemetry certification preferred or 2+ years previous experience reading, interpreting, and measuring telemetry
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • BLS required
  • Must be able to pass EKG test on hire and annually
  • Computer skills with Word, Excel and computer charting system
  • Telephone etiquette
  • Customer service oriented
