Responsibilities
Baylor Scott and White Surgicare Garland is a successful Ambulatory Surgical Center that averages 4,000 surgeries/procedures a year. We partner with one of the premier healthcare systems in the Metroplex (Baylor Scott and White), United Surgical Partners International and physicians to provide first-class surgical services for local communities. We recognize employees as our number one asset.
Primary responsibility of the materials management process for Baylor Scott & White Surgicare Garland includes the evaluation, procurement, storage and distribution of all supplies and equipment. The materials manager will perform the daily operations to support medical and surgical inventory control for the facility. This includes ordering of all medical/surgical supplies, maintaining an appropriate inventory of all medical supplies, receiving and stocking of all supplies to their assigned area. The materials manager acts as the contact with vendors to obtain information and price quotes. They will coordinate support services for maintenance and repair of equipment.

Qualifications
The individual must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill and or ability required.
- Ability to read, write, type and perform calculations at a level generally acquired through completion of high school
- Knowledge of medical terminology and department supply items
- Ability to prepare reports and keep records
- Skills to maintain effective communication with vendors, product representatives and members of the healthcare team
- Good command of the English language, both verbal and written
Physical Requirements
Include but are not limited to:
- Heavy physical effort
- Regularly required to sit
- Walking, kneeling, Stooping and bending are also required
- Normal office environment with occasional exposure to dust and dirt associated with receiving supplies
Required Experience:
Education, training and experience
- College graduate preferred
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and management of surgical supplies and equipment
- Knowledge base to recognize, evaluate, solve problems and correct errors as necessary
- Ability to quickly adapt to changing condition
- Excellent teaching skills
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Demonstrate strong professional and ethical behavior
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians and fellow employees. (TEAMWORK)
- Strong customer service skills
- Demonstrate accountability, creativity, innovation and be receptive to change
- Possess basic knowledge of Performance Improvement ideology
- Assist with other responsibilities as deemed necessary by management
