Responsibilities
Full Time RN Pre Op PACU FT
Mountain View Surgery Center at Gilbert is hiring a Registered Nurse PreOp/PACU and will train for the OR.
Mountain View Surgery Center at Gilbert i is a fast paced ASC environment committed to producing the highest quality work and experience for patients and their families.
Job Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Clinical Director and Clinical Manager, this position provides nursing care to ensure the safety of the patient during their procedure in the surgical suite or procedure room. This position also accompanies and monitors the patient as he or she transfers from PreOP to OR to PACU.
Some of the responsibilities of this role include:
- Direct and assist in carrying out safe aseptic techniques and procedures
- Supervise and directs the activities of surgical technician and supporting personnel as necessary
- Perform assessments of patients for specific nursing care needs
- Checks room for needed supplies and prepares room for specific patient and procedure
- Assist in transporting patients to operating room/procedure room and checks patient record for appropriate pre-op preparation and procedures (i.e. lab, x-ray, appropriate permits)
- Performs clean up following procedures, as well as general housekeeping duties
- Sets up operating room/procedure room with all necessary equipment an supplies
- Participates in on-going committees and other educational programs to enhance patient care
- Reviews physicians’ preference cards and updates as needed
- Performs sponge, needle, and instrument counts and documentation of same as applicable.
- Ability to maintain sterile field throughout the surgical procedure
- General familiarity of medical terminology as it pertains to anatomy and surgical procedures for an operating room
- Strong communication skills and ability to promote departmental relationships to ensure continuity of care
- Ability to handle instruments correctly and checks for cleanliness and proper working condition
- Capability to function efficiently as a member of surgical/procedural team

Required Skills:
- Must be a Registered Nurse with an unrestricted license in the state
- Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Must have at least 1-3 years' previous experience in PreOp/PACU or Critical Care. Previous experience in an ambulatory surgical center strongly preferred
- Must have current BLS, ALS and PALS
- Must possess a strong knowledge of surgical procedures and management of the surgical patient
- Understanding of aseptic techniques and their implementation
- Ability to quickly adapt to changing condition of the patient when needed
