OR RN full times are an integral part of the surgical team, providing essential nursing care to patients during surgical cases. Their role requires a high level of accuracy and professionalism in a fast-paced surgical environment. OR RN full times are responsible for ensuring that patients receive the highest standard of care during surgery. Their ability to maintain a professional approach while providing nursing care is critical in ensuring positive patient outcomes while keeping patients and their families informed. Will work directly with surgeons, medical/surgical staff and post-acute caregivers to create comprehensive patient care from pre- to post-op. Hershey Outpatient Surgery Center is a busy, multi-specialty Ambulatory Surgery Center. We are looking for a top-performer with solid knowledge of Operating Room Nursing.
Job Summary: The OR Registered Nurse is responsible for the nursing activities related to care of the patient experiencing a surgical procedure. The staff member can expect to care for adult patients, including the young adult through geriatric, and pediatric patients from 6 month through adolescence. Our scope of service includes urology, orthopedics, podiatry, ENT, neurosurgery, ophthalmology, plastic and general surgery.
- Addresses the physiological, psychological, socio-cultural and spiritual needs/responses of the patient.
- Demonstrates ability to prioritize tasks and flexibility as job priorities change.
- Demonstrates a positive can do attitude
- Work is accurate and complete
- Demonstrates knowledge and follows AORN standards
- Functions as a team member
- Completes initial and annual competencies as required.
- Maintains licenses and certifications.
- Adheres to dress code, attendance punctuality, meal break and rest periods
- Demonstrates the ability to communicate clearly and concisely
- Attends required department meetings.
- Assumes responsibility for continuing education requirements
- No nights, weekends, evenings, holidays or on call
Required Skills:
- Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
- O.R. experience is not required. Candidate must be willing to complete a comprehensive training program according to AORN and USPI standards.
- Current Pennsylvania license as a Registered Nurse
- Current in CPR and ACLS
- Possess the ability to work independently and prioritize responsibilities.
- Possess the ability to deal tactfully with patients, families, physicians, and employees.
- Knowledgeable of policies and procedures specific to operating room nurse
