We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Central Sterile Processing Technician (CSPD Tech) to join our surgical services team. The ideal candidate will be proficient in decontamination, sterilization techniques, and surgical instrumentation, ensuring all instruments and equipment are processed, sterilized, and available to support safe and efficient surgical care.

Responsibilities

  • Decontaminate, clean, inspect, assemble, and sterilize surgical instruments and trays.
  • Operate and monitor autoclaves, washers, and other sterile processing equipment according to established protocols.
  • Maintain accurate records of sterilization cycles, biological testing, and equipment maintenance.
  • Inspect instruments for cleanliness, proper function, and integrity before distribution.
  • Assemble and prepare surgical case carts to meet daily operating room schedules.
  • Collaborate with surgical staff to anticipate and meet instrumentation needs.
  • Adhere to infection control and safety standards at all times.
  • Assist with inventory control, including ordering and restocking sterile processing supplies.
  • Troubleshoot and report equipment malfunctions promptly.
  • Support hospital-wide initiatives for patient safety and quality improvement.

Required Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of surgical instruments and procedures.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Proficiency in maintaining aseptic techniques and infection control practices.

Required Experience:
  • Previous experience in sterile processing, central supply, or surgical services preferred
  • Experience with decontamination, cleaning, and assembly of surgical instruments
  • Familiarity with sterilization equipment (autoclaves, washers, ultrasonic cleaners) and monitoring processes
  • Knowledge of infection prevention and control standards in a hospital or surgical center setting
  • Experience preparing case carts and supporting operating room schedules
  • Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician (CBSPD or IAHCSMM) preferred but not required
  • Experience working with electronic tracking/documentation systems for instruments and sterilization cycles
