Endoscopy Registered Nurse (Per-Diem)

North Houston Endoscopy & Surgery is seeking a per-diem Registered Nurse (RN) to support our Endoscopy team on an as-needed basis. This role is perfect for an experienced nurse who thrives in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment and enjoys the flexibility of a per-diem schedule. The ideal candidate has GI/endoscopy experience and a commitment to safe, compassionate care.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver direct nursing care to patients undergoing endoscopy procedures, including pre-op, intra-op, and post-op phases
  • Assist providers during procedures such as colonoscopies and upper GI studies
  • Monitor sedation levels and vital signs to ensure patient safety
  • Provide education and instructions to patients and families related to their procedure and recovery
  • Document all care accurately and timely using electronic medical record systems
  • Adhere to safety and infection control policies
  • Collaborate with physicians, anesthesia staff, and team members to maintain a smooth workflow

Qualifications

  • Current RN license in the State of Texas
  • BLS and ACLS certification (or ability to obtain prior to start)
  • Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing patient needs and volume
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Familiarity with EMR systems and endoscopy protocols

Required Skills:
  • Strong assessment and critical-thinking abilities in pre-op and recovery settings
  • Proficient in patient monitoring, including vitals, sedation recovery, and pain management
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient and team interactions
  • Knowledge of infection control and patient safety protocols
  • Ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • EMR proficiency and accurate clinical documentation
  • Competence in IV placement, medication administration, and emergency response

Required Experience:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Current RN license in the state of Texas (required)
  • BLS and ACLS certifications (required or willingness to obtain upon hire)
  • Demonstrated ability to provide compassionate care in a high-acuity outpatient setting
  • Proven track record of working collaboratively with surgical and anesthesia teams
  • 2–3 years of experience in endoscopy, GI nursing, or procedural sedation
  • Experience working in an ambulatory surgery center (ASC)
  • Understanding of GI equipment, patient prep, and post-procedure recovery
