Endoscopy Technician at North Houston Endoscopy & Surgery
The Endoscopy Technician operates under the direct supervision of a physician and assists with the setup, operation, and maintenance of specialized equipment used during endoscopic procedures. This role plays a vital part in creating a safe, organized environment for both routine and advanced procedures. In addition to assisting during cases, the Endoscopy Tech is responsible for reprocessing scopes, managing room turnover, and maintaining inventory and supplies.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation, setup, and support of all endoscopic procedures
- Operate and troubleshoot endoscopic equipment and video systems
- Perform thorough cleaning, high-level disinfection, and proper storage of endoscopes
- Collaborate with nurses and physicians to ensure patient safety and efficient workflow
- Maintain procedure room cleanliness and readiness between cases
- Restock and order supplies, ensuring par levels are maintained
- Assist with patient transport and provide support throughout the perioperative process
- Document equipment use and cleaning logs in accordance with regulatory standards
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working in a GI Lab or endoscopy setting
- Previous experience in an ambulatory surgery center or surgical hospital preferred
- Current BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
- Strong understanding of infection control and scope reprocessing procedures

Required Skills:
- Familiarity with endoscopic instruments, sterilization, and safety standards
- Ability to remain calm and focused in a procedural environment
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills
- Comfortable working in a team-driven, fast-paced setting
- Effective communication skills and professionalism with staff and patients
Required Experience:
- 1+ years of hands-on experience assisting in endoscopy procedures
- Experience with Olympus or similar endoscopy equipment preferred
- Background in GI scope cleaning and documentation per manufacturer and regulatory guidelines
- Experience supporting gastroenterologists in both diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
