PACU Registered Nurse at TOPS Surgical Specialty Hospital
The PACU Registered Nurse provides continuity and quality nursing care for all patients, with continual evaluation of the patient's condition to ensure safety, comfort, and privacy at all times. This role includes:
- Providing comprehensive patient care to individuals emerging from general anesthesia and/or sedation.
- Performing assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for both patients and families in preparation for discharge.
- Assisting physicians as needed with tasks in the procedure rooms, including conscious sedation and utilizing sterile techniques as appropriate.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited RN School of Nursing
- Active RN license in the state of Texas
- BLS and ACLS required (PALS if required by the center)
- 2 years of PACU or Critical Care experience preferred
- Ability to make sound decisions based on nursing judgment
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to prioritize and organize workload to meet patient and unit needs

- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills in post-anesthesia care.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in EMR documentation and basic computer skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize care in a dynamic environment.
- Compassionate, patient-centered approach to nursing care.
Required Experience:
- Minimum of one (1) year of PACU or critical care nursing experience preferred.
- Experience working in an ambulatory surgery center or hospital setting is a plus.
