At TOPS Surgical Specialty Hospital, we are committed to delivering exceptional care in a supportive, patient-centered environment, supported by 15 inpatient beds, 30 pre-op and post-op care beds, 9 operating rooms, and 4 freestanding breast centers. Our advanced technology enables surgeons to perform a wide range of procedures across multiple specialties, including Bariatric Surgery, ENT, Gastroenterology, General Surgery, Gynecology, Orthopedic Surgery, Pain Management, Podiatry, Spine, Plastic Surgery, Neurosurgery, Urology, and Ophthalmology.


Part-Time PACU Registered Nurse at TOPS Surgical Specialty Hospital

The PACU Registered Nurse provides continuity and quality nursing care for all patients, with continual evaluation of the patient's condition to ensure safety, comfort, and privacy at all times. This role includes:

  • Providing comprehensive patient care to individuals emerging from general anesthesia and/or sedation.
  • Performing assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for both patients and families in preparation for discharge.
  • Assisting physicians as needed with tasks in the procedure rooms, including conscious sedation and utilizing sterile techniques as appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited RN School of Nursing
  • Active RN license in the state of Texas
  • BLS and ACLS required (PALS if required by the center)
  • 2 years of PACU or Critical Care experience preferred
  • Ability to make sound decisions based on nursing judgment
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to prioritize and organize workload to meet patient and unit needs

Required Skills:
  • Critical thinking and rapid decision-making in a PACU setting
  • Proficiency in patient monitoring and post-anesthesia care
  • Skilled in IV therapy, airway management, and emergency response
  • Strong interpersonal and patient education skills
  • Knowledge of infection control and sterile techniques

Required Experience:
  • Minimum 2 years in PACU, Critical Care, or related specialty preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced surgical environment
  • Familiarity with EMR systems and charting
