Memorial Hermann Surgery Center Southwest, located in Houston, Texas, is a leading outpatient surgical facility dedicated to providing high-quality, patient-focused care. As a joint venture with United Surgical Partners International (USPI) and part of the Memorial Hermann Health System, we specialize in a wide range of surgical procedures and are committed to safety, efficiency, and excellence in every patient encounter.

We are currently seeking an experienced and compassionate Full-time Pre-Op Charge Nurse Charge Nurse to join our nursing leadership team. The ideal candidate is clinically skilled, highly organized, and able to lead by example while ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality care throughout the pre- and post-anesthesia phases.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical leadership and daily oversight for the Pre-Op nursing team, ensuring safe, timely, and efficient patient care
  • Assign staff responsibilities, monitor workload, and adjust staffing as needed to meet patient and procedural needs
  • Assist with patient care, including preoperative assessments, IV starts, medication administration, and post-anesthesia monitoring
  • Respond quickly and effectively to patient emergencies or complications, providing direction to team members as needed
  • Support physicians and anesthesia providers in delivering safe and coordinated perioperative care
  • Serve as a resource and mentor to staff by promoting professional development, teamwork, and best practices
  • Collaborate with the Clinical Director and other leadership on quality improvement initiatives, compliance, and patient safety goals
  • Ensure accurate documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the medical record
  • Maintain adherence to infection control, medication safety, and regulatory standards

Required Skills:
  • Strong clinical knowledge of pre-op and PACU nursing practices, including airway management, hemodynamic monitoring, and pain control
  • Leadership ability to coordinate staff, delegate responsibilities, and promote teamwork
  • Effective decision-making and problem-solving skills in urgent or high-pressure situations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills when working with patients, families, and staff
  • Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems and documentation
  • Commitment to patient safety, quality standards, and regulatory compliance

Required Experience:
  • Current RN license in the State of Texas required
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in Pre-Op, PACU, or critical care required
  • Previous charge nurse or supervisory experience strongly preferred
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required; PALS preferred
  • Experience in an ambulatory surgery center or hospital setting highly desirable
