Position Overview
We’re seeking a motivated and compassionate Pre-Op/PACU Patient Care Technician to join our collaborative perioperative team. If you enjoy providing direct patient care in a fast-paced environment and supporting safe, positive surgical experiences, we’d love to meet you.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for surgery in the pre-operative area, including vital signs, comfort measures, and patient education
  • Monitor patients in the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) for vital signs, pain management, and overall recovery
  • Assist nurses and anesthesia staff with patient positioning, transfers, and basic care needs
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment in pre-op and PACU areas
  • Document patient information accurately and timely according to facility standards
  • Communicate effectively with the surgical team to support patient flow and safety
  • Adhere to infection control protocols and safety standards at all times
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development
  • Uphold patient confidentiality and comply with all facility policies and procedures

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Current Patient Care Technician (PCT), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), or equivalent certification preferred
  • Prior experience in perioperative or acute care settings preferred
  • Strong clinical skills, including vital signs, patient assessment, and basic patient care
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and patient-centered care skills
  • Commitment to patient safety, infection control, and quality standards

Required Skills:
  • Patient assessment and monitoring (vital signs, pain levels, recovery status)
  • Basic clinical care (assisting with hygiene, positioning, mobility, and comfort measures)
  • Knowledge of infection control and safety protocols
  • Effective communication with patients, families, and surgical teams
  • Teamwork and collaboration in fast-paced perioperative settings
  • Documentation and electronic health record (EHR) management
  • Critical thinking and ability to respond to patient needs promptly
  • Time management and multitasking in high-acuity environments

Required Experience:
  • Hands-on patient care in pre-operative, PACU, or similar acute care settings
  • Assisting nurses, anesthesia staff, and other clinical personnel with patient care
  • Preparing patients for procedures and monitoring post-operative recovery
  • Maintaining cleanliness, organization, and readiness of patient care areas
  • Working in multi-specialty or ambulatory surgery center environments preferred
  • Familiarity with hospital or ASC policies, safety standards, and patient confidentiality
