Key Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care to patients before, during, and after endoscopic or surgical procedures.
- Prepare patients for procedures, including assessments, IV insertion, and review of medical history and consent.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and sedation levels, ensuring safety and comfort throughout their stay.
- Assist physicians and clinical staff during procedures as needed.
- Educate patients and families on discharge instructions, recovery expectations, and follow-up care.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
- Ensure adherence to infection control and safety protocols at all times.
- Collaborate with physicians, anesthesia providers, and the clinical team to optimize patient outcomes.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities.
Required Skills:
- Current Texas RN license (required).
- BLS and ACLS certification (required).
- Strong communication and patient education skills.
- Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment and prioritize patient safety.
- Comfortable working in a collaborative, team-based care model.
- EMR proficiency and accurate clinical documentation habits.
- Knowledge of GI procedures, scopes, and post-anesthesia recovery protocols is a plus.
Required Experience:
- 1–2 years of nursing experience, ideally in a GI, endoscopy, or surgical setting.
- Prior experience with moderate sedation, recovery room protocols, and/or circulating in a procedure room is preferred.
- Familiarity with infection prevention, patient safety practices, and ASC workflows.
