Overview
RN OR PRNs are an integral part of the surgical team, providing essential nursing care to patients during surgical cases. Their role requires a high level of accuracy and professionalism in a fast-paced surgical environment. RN OR PRNs are responsible for ensuring that patients receive the highest standard of care during surgery. Their ability to maintain a professional approach while providing nursing care is critical in ensuring positive patient outcomes while keeping patients and their families informed. Will work directly with surgeons, medical/surgical staff and post-acute caregivers to create comprehensive patient care from pre- to post-op. Job Summary
We’re seeking a per-diem Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN OR) to join our surgical team. In this role, you’ll support the OR team in delivering high-quality surgical care on an as-needed basis. We’re looking for a clinically strong, flexible nurse who thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and is committed to patient safety and satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care before, during, and after surgical procedures
- Conduct patient assessments and respond to their physical and emotional needs
- Ensure compliance with AORN standards and facility protocols
- Communicate effectively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and fellow team members
- Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to regulatory and safety requirements
- Demonstrate adaptability in managing shifting priorities and procedure types
- Stay current with required competencies, licensure, and certifications

Required Skills:
- Strong clinical knowledge and critical thinking ability
- Excellent communication skills with patients, families, physicians, and staff
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, and adapt in a dynamic OR environment
- Familiarity with AORN standards and OR best practices
- Comfortable working with pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
Required Experience:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Current Texas RN license (unencumbered)
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in an OR setting
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
- CNOR certification preferred
