Houston, Texas TOPS Surgical Specialty Hospital (11000)TOPS Surgical Specialty Hospital, a part of United Surgical Partners International (USPI), is seeking a detail-oriented Pre-Admissions Testing (PAT) Scheduler to join our patient care team. Our hospital provides a wide range of surgical specialties with a strong commitment to patient safety, quality, and excellent outcomes.
The PAT Scheduler plays a critical role in coordinating the pre-surgical testing process, ensuring patients are properly prepared for their procedures. This role requires strong organizational skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work collaboratively with nurses, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals.
Responsibilities
- Schedule and coordinate pre-admission testing appointments for patients prior to surgical procedures.
- Collect and verify patient information, including demographics, medical history, and insurance details.
- Communicate with patients regarding pre-operative instructions, testing requirements, and any necessary follow-up.
- Coordinate with physicians, nurses, and ancillary departments to ensure timely completion of pre-surgical testing.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in the electronic medical record system.
- Address patient questions, concerns, and special needs with professionalism and empathy.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, privacy regulations, and quality standards.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in healthcare administration or related field preferred.
- Previous experience in scheduling, patient registration, or pre-admissions testing preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance verification, and pre-operative testing procedures.
- Proficient in electronic medical records and standard office software.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Required Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum 1 year of experience in surgical scheduling preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT/ICD-10 codes, and surgical procedures
- Familiarity with EHR systems and scheduling software (e.g., Cerner, Epic, SIS)
- Previous experience in a hospital, surgical center, or physician office setting preferred
