Surgical Technologist (Scrub Tech) at Memorial Hermann Surgery Center Southwest
The Surgical Technologist plays a key role on the surgical team, ensuring a safe and efficient operating environment. Responsibilities include:
- Scrubbing for surgical procedures and maintaining a sterile field throughout the operation
- Preparing supplies, instruments, and equipment for scheduled procedures
- Demonstrating competence as a member of the surgical team by anticipating the needs of the surgeon
- Supporting the philosophy, objectives, and goals of the Surgery Center
- Participating in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED; completion of a Surgical Technician Program and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Certification as required by the state and/or center
- Previous experience in an ambulatory surgical center strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and surgical patient management
- Understanding and application of aseptic techniques
- Ability to adapt quickly to changes in patient condition
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively with staff, engage with patients, and coordinate with physicians

Required Skills:
- Expertise in surgical instrumentation and sterile technique
- Ability to anticipate surgeon and procedural needs
- Strong knowledge of infection control standards and safety protocols
- Effective problem-solving and adaptability in fast-paced surgical settings
- Excellent interpersonal skills for working with multidisciplinary teams
Required Experience:
- Previous experience as a Surgical Technologist in an ASC or hospital setting preferred
- Familiarity with multiple surgical specialties (orthopedic, general, ENT, ophthalmology, etc.)
- Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate surgical counts and ensure patient safety
- Experience preparing OR suites and managing surgical equipment and supplies
