Responsibilities
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and supplies
- Ensure the sterile field is maintained and all surgical equipment is properly prepared
- Anticipate needs of the surgical team to promote efficient and safe operations
- Support room turnover, equipment sterilization, and instrument readiness
- Maintain accurate count of instruments, sponges, and sharps
- Adhere to safety protocols and infection control standards
- Collaborate with circulating nurses and anesthesia staff for seamless patient care
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program
- Must hold a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential through NBSTSA, or an equivalent nationally recognized surgical technology credential (e.g., NCCT Tech in Surgery – Certified [TS-C]) if accepted by the facility’s governing body.
- BLS certification required
- 1+ years of experience in an operating room setting preferred
- Familiarity with a range of specialties such as Orthopedics, ENT, GI, Ophthalmology, and General Surgery is a plus
