United Surgical Partners International, the country’s largest ASC platform is currently seeking a Chief Nursing Officer at Memorial Hermann Surgical Hospital Kingwood located in Kingwood, TX.

At Memorial Hermann Surgical Hospital Kingwood, the highly skilled and experienced surgeons are specialists dedicated to patient wellbeing.

Our facility is accredited by the Joint Commission. This facility has 6 OR’s and 2 Treatment Rooms.  Our state-of the art equipment allows surgeons to perform procedures in the specialty areas of: ENT, General Surgery, GI, Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Pain Management, Plastic Surgery, Podiatry, Spine and Urology.

Job Summary

  • Manages the day-to-day clinical operations of the Hospital to promote a safe, effective, and efficient patient care environment .

Responsibilities & Expectations:

  • Directs the activities of nursing and support staff within Clinical Operations. May serve as the senior executive in the absence of the Chief Executive Officer.
  • Meets customer’s expectations by actualizing EDGE – Every Day Giving Excellence on a daily basis.
  • Speaks and acts respectfully toward the organization, co-workers and medical staff.
  • Acts and responds politely at all times.

  • Uses safety in radiation exposure by wearing radiation badge and leaded gown.

  • Follows policies and procedures regarding injuries prevention, reporting and follow-up on employee injuries.

Professional Skills:

  • Understands and develops practices to meet ASPAN, AORN, ENA, JCAHO, Texas Department of Health, and other national, state, local, and institutional policies, procedures and standards.
  • Establishes objectives and strategies consistent with the Mission and Vision of United Surgical Partners International to ensure compliance of service delivery standards.
  • Reviews and improves standards on an on-going basis.
  • Develops and monitors key performance indicators to assess organizational quality and safety.
  • Maintains good working relationship with physicians, co-workers and staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Technical Skills:

  • Evaluates nursing activities to ensure patient care, staff relations and efficiency of service.
  • Ensures that nursing care is carried out as directed, and treatment is administered in accordance with physician's instructions.
  • Directs the hiring, selection, performance reviews and training of clinical personnel.
  • Calls on physicians to solicit their participation in the Hospital.
  • Directs preparation and maintenance of patients' clinical records.
  • Orders, or directs ordering of supplies, including drugs, solutions, equipment and maintains records on narcotics.
  • Initiates safe practices and is knowledgeable about current Hospital policies and procedures. Specific procedures and practices related to pain management assessment and identification, abuse and neglect, sentinel events and response, variance reporting, response to sentinel event alerts, participation in root cause analysis and other key policies and procedures is required.
  • Ensures that the appropriate inventory levels of medical supplies, instrumentation and equipment are maintained at the Hospital to meet organizational goals, JCAHO and Medicare standards.
  • Ensures that the Hospital is properly staffed on a daily basis to meet organizational, JCAHO, Medicare and community standards.
  • Ensures efficient scheduling of surgical procedures and availability of personnel, supplies, instrumentation and equipment.
  • Ensures that Standard Universal Precautions and the principles of aseptic and sterile technique are used appropriately.
  • Implements safe practices and provides knowledgeable guidance and evaluation of the environment of care management including life safety (fire prevention), security, hazardous materials and waste management, emergency preparedness, infection control, and the safe use of medical equipment and utilities.
  • Provides assessment of physiologic, mental, physiologic, and psychosocial health status of the child, adolescent, adults and geriatric patients.
  • Participates in patient/family discharge teaching for children, adults and geriatric patients.
  • Ensures compliance of the Hospital with state licensure, Medicare certification and JCAHO accreditation standards.


Required Experience:

Qualifications:

Education: Master's Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or health-related field obtained through a curriculum that included courses in administration and management, or actively pursing a plan to obtain the above referenced degree.

Experience: One to two years related experience and/or training.

Licenses/Certifications/Registrations: Current Texas License as a Registered Nurse

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Possess the ability to work independently and prioritize responsibilities.
  • Possess the ability to deal tactfully with patients, families, physicians, and employees.
  • Possess the ability to identify a problem and lead a team through the development and implementation of a solution.
  • Understand the basics of quality improvement in healthcare.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a demanding healthcare environment.
  • Ability to communicate articulately to a variety of audiences including, but not limited to: executive leadership, medical staff, clinical staff, patients, and families.
